Good technical DIY information is scattered across videos, forum threads, READMEs, vendor documentation, and tutorials that assume knowledge you don’t have yet. It’s possible to follow all of that and successfully finish a project without ever understanding the system you just built — which makes it hard to adapt, fix, or extend later.

Schemdeck exists to fix that: one structured Blueprint per project, written to explain how and why it works, not just what to type. A private Workbench keeps track of what you save, build, and finish, so each project can lead naturally into the next one.

What Schemdeck is

A Blueprint is a structured guide to a single technical project. It is designed to help you understand:

what you are building and why the approach works
the parts, tools, software, and prerequisite knowledge required
how to implement it step by step
how to test and verify that it works
how to troubleshoot predictable failure modes

Schemdeck is digital reference content that you work through yourself. It is not a physical kit, and it is not a remote IT or setup service.

What Schemdeck covers

The current focus is four domains:

Cybersecurity — segmentation, hardening, access control, detection, and thinking clearly about threat models
Networking — routers, DNS, Wi-Fi, VLANs, VPNs, and how home connectivity actually fits together
Electronics — microcontrollers, sensors, displays, and small circuits built on a bench
Self-Hosting — running your own media, storage, backups, and dashboards on hardware you control

Each project is filed under one of these domains, with more specific topics available when filtering the catalog. This list reflects where Schemdeck is starting and is expected to grow over time.

Schemdeck launches with two access levels, Free and Pro. Pro is $4.99 USD/month, an introductory launch price — see Pricing for the full comparison.
Every Free-classified Blueprint’s full Manual stays open in the public catalog for anyone, signed in or not. Pro adds full access to every Blueprint Manual.
Signing in is free and unlocks a private Workbench — saved and in-progress builds, completion history, build preferences, and explainable recommendations — along with the New to Tech guide and Tech References.

The Blueprint catalog is actively growing beyond its initial launch slate.

Content and verification

Schemdeck distinguishes researched information from builds that have been physically verified, and it does not claim that AI-assisted material was physically tested when it was not. Each Blueprint carries a validation label describing the level of testing it represents. The Terms of Use explain how to interpret that.

Why Schemdeck exists

A lot of home technology is easy to install and hard to understand. Routers, cameras, smart devices, small servers, and DIY boards can all communicate over a network, sometimes with services outside the home. That doesn’t mean every device is unsafe; it means you should be able to understand what you’re running and what it can reach.

Schemdeck grew from that idea. The goal isn’t just to give people fun projects to copy. It’s to make the systems behind those projects clear enough that you can build them, check them, change them, and make informed choices about your own network and privacy.
